The leader of Unit 3-80, Lieutenant Aurelia Camari faced court martial from her former post as Captain of the GGC Light Cruiser Inhumanator after an unfortunate incident called her command skills into question. Realizing there might still be an opportunity for her to redeem herself, she was given a demotion to security, where she would be responsible for the lives of four other crewpersons, a charge she takes very seriously.

As the ninth child, and only female, in her family, little was expected of young Tisa Mutai other than to marry well and produce more offspring. Even as a youth, she knew that life was not for her, and dedicated herself to becoming a soldier, like her eight brothers before her. Enlisting in the Engineering Division aboard the GGC Audacity, she oversaw a successful crew until a bar fight with Lt. Camari caused her to be transferred to Unit 3-80.

The daughter of famed biogeneticists Hentor and Testa Merry, Marianne Meredith Merry was not so much born as she was cultivated in numerous test-tubes and petri dishes. Her parents tweaked her genetic structure during her incubation, with the goal of creating the most advanced scientific genius the universe would ever know. Unfortunately, her zealous love of science created a reckless disregard for safety, and her role as an ensign in the Science Division quickly became a similar role in Unit 3-80.

A liberated slave smuggled aboard the Audacity by an unscrupulous crew member, Sheva (last name unknown) was given a choice upon gaining her freedom - sign on with the GGC Security Division or be sent back to her native Auria to resume her life of servitude under a different master. It took her about two seconds to make the decision, and has been working (some might say "struggling") to learn how to live with her newfound liberty - even the limited liberty of a member of Unit 3-80.

Like most Hephaestians, Ensign Pietrixalionia Zaruva (or "Zaruva"), provides little information about herself. A strong adherent to the Hephaestian "religion" of denying all emotional output, she can be seen as cold and distant on first encounter. Only after spending a considerable amount of time can these characteristics be confirmed to be undeniably true. Formerly a member of the Medical Unit, a mishap during an operation caused this once-gifted surgeon to personally volunteer for a demotion to Unit 3-80.
